Again this year we met for our annual hunt. I had my elk tag and Trav had a deer tag. Due to all the crazy rain we have received this fall it was pretty muddy and it was raining on us as we were loading our stuff on the llamas preparing to hike into our spot. We were fortunate enough that the rain quit for about the first 1hr an 1/2 of the hike which made it nice but it eventually started up again. We made it most of the way until we came upon some dead fall that needed to be removed and since it was getting dark and still raining we decided to find a spot to put up the wall tent, make a fire and get dried out. My dad, bless his heart knew that with all the cold and moisture and also how wimpy his daughter is, he decided to bring the wall tent to keep me warm. Thanks dad! We unfortunately were tent bound the next morning due to snow and fog but we had some good laughs in the tent! We were able to go out and about that evening for a bit but didn't see much. The next morning we got up and hiked about 1 hr to our "secret" spot but still weren't able to see many elk. Dad and Trav saw some nice deer quite a ways up on the mountain so my uncle Gary set out after them. He hauled up and across after them but right when he was getting close enough for a look they got spooked and ran. As for me I didn't get anything this year but the memories and time I have in the beautiful mountains and with my amazing husband and dad is PRICELESS. I look forward to next year! Again wonderful, amazing grandma Janie came and took care of the kids for us. THANK YOU THANK YOU! She is the best, we came home to an organized house, laundry done and even an organized Tupperware drawer. The best part was the home cooked meal, ham & beans with corn bread.
