Every year the high school puts on a spring play where 3rd - 8th graders can audition for parts too. This year was The Sound of Music and Emmie wanted so badly to try out. It was a tough decision for her (and us) since she was also doing USA swimming and had just qualified in 2 events to go to state. We told her if she got a part, especially a main one that it would take up most of her time, leaving no room to swim until the play finished, which meant not being able to attend state. She decided she wanted to try out for the play. She made it through the first audition, meaning she knew she had a part but then had another audition to decide which part that would be. She was absolutely ecstatic when she got the role of "Louisa Von Trapp" as were we. It was such an amazing opportunity. She spent every day after school for three months practicing and learning the songs and her parts and it didn't end there. We would help her rehearse her lines and listen to her sing at home too. Pretty soon we were all singing the songs...we still are. haha It was amazing to see her grow and mature and watch her gain a sense of self confidence that wasn't there before. She was so blessed to have so much support from all of our families... we love you all and thank you so much for coming. When it came to performance night, we watched with full hearts and tears in our eyes as she stood on that stage and shined. We sure love you Emmie. Way to "Break a Leg"
